perfection and decoration

i'm in love with this picture. unfortunately, its not me.

this week, i'm caught up in decorating dreams. a and i are moving at the end of the month and although moving is a pain, the thought of decorating an entire apartment is this girl's dream. my personal library, after an undergrad degree in english literature, plus going to grad school to study to become an english teacher, is growing at a more than satisfying rate. hopefully my bookshelves can look this good someday (and a is patient and kind enough to let me fill a whole wall with my books).

the decorating is also exciting with the holiday season upon us. a and i are lucky enough to be moving into a home where our traditions blend and mix to create new traditions for us together. i have been checking out all kinds of hannukah traditions and decor and am really looking forward to getting our home set up for the holidays that reflects a and i's uniqueness, respect and love for each others families, values and traditions. i've finnnalllllyyyy decided that our holiday theme will be silver and blue, to bring in the traditional color of hannukah into any chirstmas decorations we have.

i'll post pictures once we finally get moved in and everything is set up-and then hopefully we'll be able to have all our family and friends over to celebrate the holidays in our new home!

waiting anxiously for november 28 (the big moving day),

summer at the cabin

the best part of me is always you.

the island

in northern, deserted, wonderful fiji

in my bag if i was trapped on a deserted island:
-Mary Kay SPF 30 sunscreen. obviously, the island is a tropical one. do people ever get deserted on cold islands?
-NARS bronzer in Casino. this, i just cannot live without.
-Time Balm "The Balm" concealer. sleepless night? fear not, this little beauty will be your new bff.
-Marc Jacobs Daisy perfume. no reason other than the fact i can't live without perfume. i'm the girl who wears perfume to the gym. vain, i know.
-Wuthering Heights by Emily Bronte. anyone that knows me, this one's self explanatory. anyone who doesn't, needs to read this book now. it gets better and better every time you read it. trust me. if i could only choose one book to read for the rest of my life, there would be no comparison.
-Victoria's Secret BioFit Demi bra in black. you never know who else could be stranded there, and braless never was, and never will be a good look, no matter your cup size-and this is the greatest bra ever invented. ever.
-John Mayer. not the albums, the person. because, hey, a girl can dream can't she?

its my deserted island, and i'll fantasize if i want to.

sweet summer

one of my favorite summer pictures-july 4th at the cabin with my sisters.

one of my favorite days of the year is fast approaching-july 4th. i know, i know, i am canadian, and definitely NOT american, but july 4th i will admit, i absolutely adore. not because of the actual independence of america, but because of our special july 4th weekend tradition: we go to our little slice of heaven on earth-the cabin in point roberts.

this place is not only special because of the geography, but because of the people that end up there-my family, the greenwoods, and anyone else crazy enough to have stuck around our crazy families all these years.

so we'll pack up our beach bags, and our overnight bags and head down to the cabin next weekend to celebrate. not celebrate independence, but celebrate being together again, as one more july 4th comes and goes.

ahh, summer. you're finally here, and i couldn't be happier.

the bug

i'm feeling the bug this week-not the sick bug, the other one. maybe its the rainy, november-y weather we're having here in vancouver this week, or maybe its just the gypsy spirit in me, but that itch to go somewhere is here and not going away.
a and i got back from a gorgeous hawaiian vacation a few weeks ago, and vegas with the girlfriends is 2 weeks away, yet still, i'm itching to book another ticket, pack my suitcase and hit the streets of somewhere new. calling to me lately? new york again-a spring vacation this time, boston, san francisco. city girl equals city vacation.
a and i in hawaii this month

on the far horizon, my to-go list: italy, spain, south of france, dubai, turks and caicos.

ahh, the life.

Have Heart, Will Travel.

I was fortunate enough in my young life to have to opportunity to take a year, and travel the world (well, a good part of it).  We spend so much time in our lives planning, and creating reasons why we can and cannot do things-our only obstacle is ourselves. Money comes and goes, people come and go, but life? You've only got one shot-better make it a good one.

If you are lucky enough, like me, to get to explore the world, here are a few of my most favorite places.
Santorini, Greece

Book a ticket to Santorini, Greece. Right now. I promise you, you will not regret it, and you might not even come home. The most beautiful place in the world. This picture was taken in Oia, and I felt like I was living in a real-live postcar
d. Santorini was the first stop of my trip, and still has the number one spot in my heart.

Beachcomber Island, Fiji

Paradise on earth. Enough said. The bluest water, the whitest sand. Fijians are the friendliest people and you're in the absolute middle of the pacific ocean on a tiny island you can walk around-like actually around the perimeter of the island-in 15 minutes. How's the for humbling? Big world, tiny island.

Byron Bay, Australia

I was lucky enough to call Byron Bay home for three months of my journey, and loved every minute of this sleepy little beach town on the East Coast of Australia. Byron Bay is a gorgeous, sweeping bay of perfect rolling waves for longboarding, and long, hot summer days. The picture is of the Cape Byron Lighthouse-the most easterly point of the Australian mainland. Go here-everyone that stumbles into Byron loves it.

Koh Tao, Thailand

This place is breathtaking. Definitely my favorite place in Asia. This island, off the coast of Thailand is known for its scuba diving-the water is some of the clearest in the world. If you scuba dive, go to Koh Tao. The sunsets are incredible and the beaches are amazing.

There are just a few of the many places I've been lucky enough to explore so far. I loved them all, but these ones especially, will always have a little piece of my heart. Take a risk and book a ticket. What's the worst you can do? Come home? You'll have to at some point. Trust yourself and know that you will always end up where you belong. I did.

Let Me Be the First to Welcome You.

Welcome, friend!
I guess the time finally came for me to cave in a jump on this blogging train. All the kids these days seem to be doing it, so hey, I guess it was only a matter of time before it was my turn to join the fun. My apologies in advance for any randomness, rambling or chaos of the posts ahead-this blog will act as my creative outlet and sounding board to the daily happens of a girl, triumphant.

I guess I should start with a little about me. I am a sister-both biological and sorority, a daughter, a lover, a traveller, a creator, a runner, a lemon, a friend, a baker-by-hobby, a reader, a writer and a shopper. I love all things girly, and my goal is to be a lady who lunches. Who says you can't have it all, right?

Welcome to my life, or something like it.
